Bruce
McRoy is a founding partner of the firm. His practice focuses on
representing public and private enterprises and individuals with
respect to business, corporate, securities, venture capital,
mergers and acquisitions, intellectual
property and tax matters. He has served as outside
counsel and as special counsel on securities, acquisition and
intellectual property transactions for domestic and foreign
clients including publicly traded corporations, early stage manufacturing and development
companies, academic and R&D organizations, and consolidated groups with international operations.
Prior to joining the firm, Bruce was a Partner in the Business
Department of the national intellectual property law firm of
Spensley, Horn, Jubas & Lubitz in Los Angeles. While with
Spensley Horn, Bruce represented a wide-range of public and
private industrial and
technology based companies and professionals with respect to
their domestic and international corporate, corporate
securities, tax and licensing matters, including public and
private offerings of securities and other financings, mergers
and acquisitions and
development, manufacturing and licensing matters.
Bruce graduated
from Columbia University School of Law in 1975. He was an Editor
of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. He is a member of
the California, American and Santa Barbara Bar Associations.
Since moving to Santa
Barbara in 1994, Bruce has been active in the local community.
He was the organizer and Chairman of the Technology Business
Section of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association. He is
also an officer and Director of the Science and Engineering
Council and is active with and past General Counsel to the Santa
Barbara Industrial Association. He was a Director of the Systems
& Software Consortium, an incubator organized to facilitate the
formation of local
technology enterprises.
From 1968 to 1971, Bruce
served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in shore-based and
airborne anti-submarine warfare operations.
